The History of KSU
Named After I. Arabaev

Kyrgyz State University named after I. Arabaev is one of the oldest and most prestigious higher education institutions in Kyrgyzstan. Its roots trace back to 1920, when it was originally established as the Kyrgyz Institute of Education to train qualified teachers for the young republic.

Over the decades, it evolved into a center of academic excellence, significantly contributing to the nation’s progress in education, science, and culture. Named after Ishenaly Arabaev, a respected educator and linguist, the university continues his legacy of intellectual growth and national identity.

  • 1920: Founded as Kyrgyz Institute of Education
